my search for the perfect eyeliner is OVER!!! Loreal's Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner is truly genius! Regular eyeliner pencils don't seem to last for me and usually smudges and gets on the bottom corner of my eye. Liquid liner tends to look too harsh for me. Maybe ok at night but during the day I want a softer line. When I saw this at the drugstore I was a little skeptical. Did I want to spend another $8 on ANOTHER eyeliner pencil...i must have like 10 different black eyeliners! But this one was worth every penny :) Not only does it stay on without smudging, the color is beautiful and rich without the harsh look of liquid liners. Glides on smoothly and comes in vibrant colors like plum, bronze and emerald green...and of course black! I like to line the inner bottom rim with color when I an doing dramatic eyes. The plum and emerald green are very summery and pretty. I will take pics soon ;)

who do you love?

I LOVE this new tote bag I got from Sophia Eugene in West Village (37 Cornelia St., New York, NY ) , which by the way is a super cute little boutique with flowy, feminine dresses and tops. Definitely one of my great summer purchases! I use it ALOT...holds everything, the straps are just the right length and its made of a nice heavyweight canvas. By Christopher Deane, $25. Also available with black heart/straps.

NEW ITEMS!!
Sorry it has been soooo long since I've posted. My job has been keeping me quite busy.....what's this whole 9-5 business about?!! Don't like it much....the days just fly by. There's so much I want to get in for this summer! Wish I could just do the jewelry gig all day everyday ;D
Oh well, until that happens, I am still making jewelry in the little free time I have. Check it out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
2009 is officially here and there will be lots in store for Castaway! A new collection will debut the end of Jan. A new line of fun, glamour girl inspired "party" accessories will also be in the works ;) In a time when Gossip Girls are parading around the City with their pretty dresses and 5" Christian Louboutins, we cannot expect anything less than perfection with our accessories because let's face it ladies, the accessories make the outfit!!! Its TRUE! I know we've all heard that before but how many of us actually pay attention to the STYLE rather than the LABEL. I personally do not care for designer labels...i would be just as happy in a Philip Lim cardigan as I would be in a Club Monaco or
J Crew one. OK ok....maybe slightly MORE happy in a Philip Lim. But nonetheless, I would still be able to rock out in a non designer label with the right cuff or necklace. Not to mention the right HANDBAG or SHOES!! 2009 will definitely be a time for rebuilding. As we go thru this transition it is important to remember individual style and making a statement..all while having fun! While we tend to be inspired by what we see on young starlets, don't forget to throw in your own unique element of style. Ingenues like Kate Moss, Mary Kate, Lou Dillon and Chloe Sevigny are considered fashion darlings because they are unafraid to take risk and make a statement rather than following a statement. Mix and matching what's new with what's old and unlabeled is an easy way to to be chic. Another surefire way to be chic is to have one thing about you that stands out and everyone thinking "where did she get that!!??". For me its usually a piece of jewelry or a vintage dress. Rules to remember, whatever it is, it has to FIT. Anything overwhelming and sloppy is NOT chic. Anything too tight or revealing is NOT sexy, its trashy. Anything that doesn't feel quite right, usually isn't. Comfort and confidence is another important element of style. Don't be fooled into incredibly uncomfortable trends....they never last.
Kudos to the Kates who seem to always get it right!
